Rural Fire Service

Many local fire brigades are full of activity getting ready for the fire season.

The Glenorie brigade recently celebrated 60 years of dedicated service and sacrifice to the community. Nelson - Box Hill celebrated their station opening with a grand event at their new facility.

It was through the activities of the Glenorie Rural Fire Service and the visit of the Prime Minister John Howard that the Commonwealth has started to become really involved in supporting rural fire volunteers.

Apart from supplying aerial fire fighting services, the Commonwealth recently announced $29,167 to enhance, construct, maintain and erect signage of local bushfire trail networks.
